Surveyor
Purpose Statement
To undertake survey matters as requested within the Melbourne
Office while maintaining budgetary and Quality Assurance
considerations. To positively represent & promote Tomkinson Pty
Ltd at all times.
Organisation Relationships
Reports to Survey Manager, Senior Surveyor & ultimately the
Company Manager
Key Performance Indicators
-
To undertake field surveys to the required accuracy & detail
-
To undertake office related matters – computations, plan
preparation etc
-
To supervise Survey Assistants & to allocate work
-
Liaison with Engineers, Draftspersons and Clients
Tasks & Responsibilities
-
Make decisions in relation to the extent of survey work
required on site, based on direction from the Survey Manager
or Senior Surveyor, available information and experience
-
Identify training needs for survey assistants and advise
Survey Manager
-
Maintain all equipment supplied and report any loss,
malfunction, damage or requirement for calibration/checking
to the Survey Manager or Senior Surveyor

Maintain paper and computer files in a logical manner
-
Brief Senior Surveyor or Survey Manager on progress of tasks
at hand
-
Make adoptions for boundary definitions for ratification of
Licensed Surveyor
-
Check and amend survey plans under supervision of Survey
Manager or Senior Surveyor

Provide on the Job training to Survey Assistants
-
Maintain vehicle supplied in clean condition and advise
Survey Manager or Senior Surveyor of faults and servicing
dates
-
Assess any potential safety hazards on site and to take
appropriate action to safeguard his/her own health and
safety and that of any assistant under his/her supervision.

To comply with the safety procedures and directions agreed
between management and employees with nominated or elected
health and safety functions

To advise Survey Manager or Senior Surveyor prior to doing
additional work if that work is requested by the Client or
the Client’s agent on site

Other duties as directed by the Survey Manager or Senior
Surveyor
Minimum Skills & Capabilities
-
Tertiary Qualification in Surveying
-
Capacity to self manage and undertake surveys independently
-
Good grounding in cadastral survey
-
Ability to draft Abstract of Field Records and Surveyors reports
-
Ability to accurately and clearly record survey measurements
-
Ability to prevent, find and correct errors
-
Knowledge of & proficiency in the use of survey instruments
-
Drivers Licence
