Water / Drainage Engineer

Purpose

To coordinate & direct engineering design & project management of subdivision & civil works with a special focus on Water & Drainage aspects as requested within prescribed time frame working in the Melbourne Office while maintaining budgetary and Quality Assurance considerations. To positively represent & promote Tomkinson Pty Ltd at all times.

Organisation Relationships

Reports to Engineering Manager & ultimately the Company Manager

Key Performance Indicators

• Design of drainage for civil and infrastructure works.
• Hydrological and hydraulic modelling of rural and urban catchments in 2D and 3D environment.
• Familiarity with the principals of Water sensitive urban design.
• Manage projects to meet time, cost and quality requirements.
• Provision of support in marketing, tracking opportunities and bid preparation.

Tasks

• Assist in the design of a broad range of engineering projects including
• development of conceptual designs,
• analysis of technical information,
• preparation of reports & master plans,
• Management of the preparation of the detailed designs & documentation,
• The role also includes the setting up, calibration & application of hydrological, hydraulic & water quality models, &
• Other duties may be assigned by the Engineering Managers or the Company Manager appropriate to the role of the position.

• Relevant degree in Civil / Water Engineering from a recognised Tertiary Institution.
• Five to ten years experience in the field of water resources / drainage engineering with public or private sector.
• In depth knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic software, understanding of the fundamental principles of the software including its limitation and interpretation of results. This level of knowledge should extend to some of the following software: RORB, HEC-RAS, 12D Drainage Music & various culvert programs and other software interacting with the drainage software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
